Speck Candyshell
When I got my iPhone 3G in December, I didn't waste time picking up my matte black Incase Slider. Six months later, and I would never, ever buy another Incase product. They make wonderful products, but the Incase Slider scratched the hell out of my iPhone. It left long, white lines along the sides of my phone where the, "rubber bumper" rubbed the phone when I took the case on or off. I realize that a case that does this may be rare, but I refuse to risk it again.
That being said, once I got my 3GS, I wasted little time in choosing a new case for my iPhone. And I came home with a nice, new Speck Candyshell. I put my phone in just as the instructions said, and everything was great. However, the next day I woke up the next day and took my iPhone off of the charger, only to notice that the lower lip that "covers" the chrom bezel is broken, being held together only by the silicon on the inside of the case. I sent an email to Speck, and a few days later, they got back to me with this to say... "
Unfortunately the white Candyshell has been discontinued and we will not be receiving any more. New colors will be available by the end of the month. The new color combinations are as follows:
WHITE / LIGHT GREY
BLACK / DARK GREY
PINK / LIGHT PINK
BLUE / DARK BLUE
PURPLE / LIGHT PURPLE
If you send me a picture of the Apple store receipt as well as a picture of the damage and note your color preference, I can have one sent out to you when they become available.
Thanks!"
These color options do NOT interest me nearly as much as the original ones do, but I guess we'll see how good they actually look once they come out. In response I asked if there was a way I could see how the cases looked before I chose, and I've yet to hear back. Update when Speck responds.

Aquapac Waterproof Mini

First off, the thing is a lot thinner than I had originally imagined looking at the picture to the left. Shipping from the EverythingiCafe website was prompt and it arrived exactly when it was supposed to. When it arrived, I had a bit of trouble getting my iPhone 3G into it. Due to the type of rubber/plastic material used to make the case itself, the inside is very stick and makes it nearly impossible to move your phone in/out of the case. However, I found that putting a bit of paper in between the phone and the case itself when putting the phone in/taking the phone out allows you to slip it and and out freely. I was doubtful at first of the plastic, patented "Aquaclip" that seals the case via a clamp system, but it actually does an admirable job of keeping the water (along with everything else) out. The neck string is slightly elastic, and the LENZFLEX panel in the back does a fine job of leaving your pictures just as they would have been if your phone weren't in a case. Being the stupid teenager that I am, I slipped my phone in(with a fair bit of effort) as soon as it came and rushed to the restroom to fill my sink with iPhone-destroying water and dunk my phone in! Luckily for me, the case did it's job, and well.
So, ultimately the Aquapac Waterproof Mini does what it's supposed to, but, at $30, "Well worth the money" is not the first thing that springs to mind.
Shawn and Blogging: A history.
Then, I became more active on the internet, and more involved with buying expensive things. I started checking the internet for reviews of whatever it was I was about to buy, including my iPhone 3G, and my soon-to-be iPhone 3G[S]. I stumbled upon some great bloggers, such as macgirl (whose blog can be found here). Believe it or not, folks like her, along with growing to become involved with the wonderful croud at the EverythingiCafe Forums, inspired me to express myself over the internet, where I've never witnessed more alternatives for the three words, "I don't care."
So, this one is for you, blogging. I know we got off to a bumpy start, but here's to hoping that you and I can grow into a long, prosperous relationship together. And maybe even entertain a few folks along the way.
Oi, by the way, follow me on Twitter!
